Q: How do you select your Caregivers?
A: All Caregivers are interviewed in person and must meet our strict guidelines for
employment. Our guidelines include a minimum of 2 years prior experience as a
Caregiver for seniors, at least 3 references that support their experience and character,
and the ability to read and write the English language.
Q: How does Independence-4-Seniors work? Can I be involved in choosing the
Caregiver and meet them in advance?
A: We start our process by focusing on the client. Each senior's situation is evaluated
by a Registered Nurse during a complimentary initial assessment. Only after this
thorough assessment is completed do we begin the process of selecting a Caregiver for
the client that is matched to the client's individual needs. Once selected, we schedule an
interview/meeting with the client, Caregiver and Registered Nurse.
Q: How are your Caregivers screened?
A: In addition to reference checks and experience requirements, all Caregivers are
screened for criminal record history. Only Caregivers with clean records are hired.
Additionally, we required proof of identity and eligibility for employment in the
United States.
Q: Are the Caregivers covered by liability and workers compensation insurance?
A: Yes.
Q: Do you "bond" your Caregivers?
A: Yes.
Q: Are your services available for seniors who are residents of assisted living facilities
or nursing homes?
A: Yes. Private duty care can be arranged for any facility-based setting.
Q: What makes Independence-4-Seniors different from other home care companies?
A: The owner/employees are both healthcare professionals with extensive experience
in clinical practice, home care and long term care. We employ a Registered Nurse who
performs all client assessments and supervises each Caregiver. The owners have each
had personal family experiences in arranging and caring for older adults. Additionally,
the company's selection process for Caregivers allows us to deliver a level of service
that is unsurpassed in the industry.
Q: Why should I use Independence-4-Seniors instead of hiring a Caregiver privately
on my own?
A: Independence-4-Seniors, Inc. handles all of the Payroll Tax Liabilities,
Employment Verification, Workers Compensation and Liability/Bonding insurance
issues. When choosing to hire a Caregiver privately, the client or responsible party
must assume these duties.
Q: How are your Caregivers supervised?
A: A Registered Nurse employee of Independence-4-Seniors, Inc. is responsible for
the day-to-day supervision of each Caregiver.
Q: How are your Caregivers trained?
A: Caregivers are hired with a minimum of 2 years prior experience in caring for older
adults in their homes. Independence-4-Seniors, Inc. provides each Caregiver with
ongoing training and education as needs arise. Employee orientation includes review of
safety in the workplace, guidelines for each specific assignment, and emergency
response procedures.
Q: Does someone from Independence-4-Seniors personally introduce the Caregiver
on their first visit?
A: Yes. In fact, all Caregivers are introduced to the client by our Registered Nurse
prior to agreeing to proceed with the assignment.
Q: What happens if I become dissatisfied with my Caregiver? Can I make a change?
A: Yes. Our sole focus is to provide the finest, compassionate care that our senior
clients need and deserve. If, for any reason, the client would like to change Caregivers,
we would honor this request.
Q: Will I have the same Caregiver on each visit or will several Caregivers be assigned
to me?
A: A primary Caregiver is assigned to each client. While we strive to maintain
continuity, there are occasions when a second Caregiver may need to be assigned. This
may include vacations, family emergencies or sickness.
Q: Who pays the Caregiver and how are taxes handled?
A: Independence-4-Seniors, Inc. manages payroll and taxes for each Caregiver. Taxes
are deducted form each paycheck and submitted to Federal and State governments as
required.

A: Yes, we provide Hourly and Live-In (24 hour) care. In addition, we provide care on
a per visit basis.

A: Yes. We require that each client agree to a minimum of 4 hours on each scheduled
day of care.

However, Long Term Care Insurance policies do cover our services and most often pay some
portion of the daily rate charged.
