As owners of Independence-4-Seniors Home Care, we understand. We understand because we have been there. We have provided this senior care ourselves for our own loved ones and we know what a difference the right kind of home care can make. We wish to extend to our clients nothing less.
Our Illinois-based company is involved in the wellbeing of others: Loved ones, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers who wish to remain as independent as possible, for as long as possible in whatever living arrangement they call home. Our sole focus is to provide the finest, most compassionate senior care that our home care clients need and expect.

Joan M. O’Brien, RN, MSN - Owner
Joan is an owner of Independence-4-Seniors Home Care She is responsible for the assessment and coordination of home care services for our senior clients and manages our staff of caregivers. Joan has over 30 years of healthcare experience as an RN with extensive skills in physical assessment and diagnosis. She has held clinical and management positions at the University of Chicago Medical Center and Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center.
Joan is the past board chair of the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP®). Joan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Loyola University of Chicago and a master’s degree in Nursing from Georgetown University School of Nursing and Health Studies. Joan is a Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Illinois. Joan resides in the village of Western Springs, Illinois.
Mike O’Brien - Owner
Mike is an owner of Independence-4-Seniors Home Care. He is responsible for the business development and financial operations of the company. Mike has over 30 years of experience in the health care industry and has held senior level positions in sales and business development with Baxter Healthcare, Caremark, ManorCare, Sun Healthcare Group, and Allscripts. His experience includes home infusion therapy, home respiratory therapy, long term care, hospital department management and electronic prescription technology.
Mike is a past board member of the Greater Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and the past president of both the Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce and the Western Springs Business Association. He is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA®) with the Society of Certified Senior Advisors and is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP®). Mike received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mount St. Mary’s University in Maryland and completed the Executive Program of the Yale Graduate School of Business. Mike resides in the village of Western Springs, Illinois.
